- A computer must be designated as a license server. It does not have to be a "server", but it must be running whenever users want to use the software.
- The server must be accessible from the user PCs.
- The CodeMeter User Runtime must be installed on the server
- Default CodeMeter uses port 22350 (TCP) for license requests, i.e. the server must be able to receive requests from the network on this port.
- In the CodeMeter User Runtime the network server functionality must be activated
- Activation of the network server functionality and entry in the Windows firewall happen automatically, if the option "Network server" was installed during the installation of the CodeMeter User Runtime.
- There are 2 ways to set up the licenses on the server:
- The licenses can be installed on the server (CmActLicense).
- Whenever the (virtual) hardware or the operating system is changed, the license must be deactivated beforehand and reactivated afterwards.
- Otherwise there is a risk that the license thinks it has been duplicated on another computer.
- The licenses can be installed on a CodeMeter dongle
- The dongle must be visible as a USB device for the CodeMeter driver
